
| When THE ME NOBODY KNOWS closed on Broadway at the end of 1971, Children's Television Workshop (CTW) hired half of the musical's cast
to star in their new show, The Electric Company. Irene Cara, Hattie Winston, Melanie Henderson and Douglas Grant were hired for The Electric Company. (Northern Calloway was hired for Sesame Street). The Electric Company become a great success. After its first 2 years on the air, CTW hired Gary William Friedman to be the Music Director and Composer for The Electric Company. Gary wrote around 40 songs for The Electric Company, including the popular "Spiderman Theme" - for which he wrote the words and music and was the vocalist.
